Signage, print, and ID-card work almost never fits a fixed price. Size, material, quantity, finishing, artwork setup, and turnaround all move the number, so most orders start as a quote. ShopQuotes gives Shopify merchants in these categories a way to collect those specs, price each job, and close the sale without leaving Shopify. Cards-X, which sells ID cards and printed products, runs this exact workflow on ShopQuotes.
Why custom-spec jobs need quoting, not a cart
A banner priced by the square foot, a badge run priced by quantity and lamination, or a business-card order with a setup fee cannot sit behind a normal “Add to Cart” button. Buyers need to send you their spec first. ShopQuotes replaces the cart on those products with a native “Request a Quote” button and form (no theme code), so a customer submits dimensions, material, quantity, and artwork notes instead of guessing a price. You can hide price and hide add-to-cart on the products that should always be quoted.
From request to paid order
Every quote request becomes a real Shopify draft order, so you are working inside the tools you already know. You adjust line items, set the per-project price, add setup or rush fees, and send a branded Live Quote page. The customer opens it, accepts, and pays through native Shopify checkout. There is no separate invoicing tool and no commission on the order.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Request | Customer submits specs through the quote form |
| Build | Request lands as a Shopify draft order you can edit |
| Send | Branded Live Quote goes out by email, link, or PDF |
| Close | Customer accepts and pays via Shopify checkout |
Send from your own domain, track every quote
Print and signage shops often quote dozens of jobs a week, and follow-up is where deals are won or lost. ShopQuotes sends quotes from your own email domain (Gmail, Outlook, SendGrid, Resend, or any SMTP), or you can share by link or PDF for buyers who want a document for procurement. Open, click, and conversion analytics sit on every quote, so you can see who viewed their banner or badge quote and who needs a nudge. On the Grow plan you also get reusable branded templates, a custom quote domain, and PDF quotes, which is useful when the same badge or signage spec comes up again and again.
