Promotional products rarely sell at a fixed price. A branded tote, an embroidered polo, or a run of custom pens depends on quantity, decoration method, number of imprint colors, and one-time setup. That is why most promo and merch stores on Shopify quote every order by hand. ShopQuotes turns that back-and-forth into a tracked, native workflow.
Why promo and merch orders need quotes, not a cart
Standard Shopify checkout assumes a single price per variant. Custom decoration breaks that assumption. A buyer ordering 250 shirts pays a different unit price than one ordering 25, screen printing carries a setup charge per color, and rush timelines change the number. Publishing a fixed “add to cart” price either overcharges small orders or leaves margin on the table for large ones.
ShopQuotes lets you hide the price and the add to cart button on the products you decorate, and show a “Request a Quote” button instead. The buyer submits their spec (garment, quantity, imprint colors, deadline) through a form builder you control. No theme code, no developer.
From request to proof to paid order
Each request lands in ShopQuotes and becomes a real Shopify draft order, so your quote lives in the same system as the rest of your sales.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Request | Customer submits quantity, decoration, and artwork notes through your form |
| Build | You price the order, add setup and proof line items, adjust for volume tiers |
| Send | A branded Live Quote page goes out by email, link, or PDF |
| Accept | Customer approves the proof and pays through native Shopify checkout |
Because the Live Quote is a hosted page (not a static PDF), you get open, click, and conversion analytics on every quote. You can see whether a buyer opened the quote for 40 shirts before you follow up, which matters when you are juggling dozens of open jobs.
Sending from your own domain
Quotes can go out from your own email domain through Gmail, Outlook, SendGrid, Resend, or any SMTP, so a quote from your shop looks like it came from your shop, not a third-party app. On the Grow plan you can also add a custom quote domain and reusable branded templates, which is useful when your setup and proof terms are the same on most jobs.

Getting started
Install from the Shopify App Store, pick the decorated products that should show “Request a Quote,” and build your intake form. Industrial and wholesale sellers such as PLG Automation and print shops like Cards-X already run per-order quoting this way.
If you also sell in bulk to distributors and corporate buyers, the wholesale and B2B guide covers volume pricing and account workflows. New to the concept? Start with what a request a quote flow is on Shopify.
